Check your phone bill, watch for scams

We were watching the Today Show this morning and they had a special segment on third part billing scams and subsequent charges on your phone bills. Senator Jay Rockefeller from West Virginia has a committee working to uncover the truth on this type of phone scam. He pointed out that the phone companies profit to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars each year since they allow third party billings and make a profit from them. An example of this type of scam is texting. If you signed up for texting then there is no problem. If you did not sign up for this service and you are getting billed for it then you are paying for a scam. You can call your phone company and not allow any third party billing to be added to your monthly bill.

While checking with our company this morning we were informed that we would be billed incorrectly this month. We like Verizon because of the country wide service available for computer access to the internet. We do not like this company because they do manage to mess up our bill with great regularity. Fortunately Foxy keeps track of the bill each month and then complains to them when it needs to be corrected. For example this month the bill is incorrect because although we have 450 minutes to be shared between our two phones, they also managed to bill us for going over 50 minutes on our second phone. The actual fact is that they were trying to have it both ways. They wanted us to share between the two phones the 450 minutes and also charge us if we went over 50 minutes on the second phone. They are tricky and you have to keep after them. Sorry about the complaining in this message but I hope if you check your bill you will find everything correct and that you are not being scammed.
