Last night they turned on the lights at our court house square. We went down to see the festivities with Kim. The boys were at swimming, and their dad was picking them up. We wandered the square enjoying all of the people, wassail punch to drink everywhere, kids, and people having fun. We settled down for an adult beverage at the Sweetwater Grill along with nachos and dill pickles (deep fried of course). It was loud but we could visit and catch up with all of the doings in Kim's busy life. She left to go to a student's concert, and we headed out to hear a Baroque Orchestra and Collegium Singers Concert in Murchison Performing Arts Center, which looks like an armadillo.
The concert featured early music of Gregorian chants from 450 AD to the middle ages to works from Bach and Vivaldi. Not all of these works were inspiring, and I was beginning to nod off just before intermission. Foxy wanted to know if we should go home, but we both wanted to hear the Vivaldi work which was the high point of the evening. The musicians were splendid. The Baroque instruments were fun to hear and well played for the most part. Some of the horns had problems with a note here and there, but these were minor. Would I go again? Probably not. This is not exactly my type of music. I lean toward country-western. I do need to have my music horizons broadened and what better place than at the music college of North Texas. So far we have tried opera and now baroque music. What will be next? Stay tuned and happy travels.

Wish we could've joined you at the courthouse square! We went to a "lighted boat parade" down at the harbor here. Pretty pathetic :( Need to do something to get in the spirit! Another boat parade in Rockport next weekend ... maybe we'll give that one a try. Keep havin' fun!
